Baby Doll
The second in his ongoing Nose Art/Pin-Up collection, joining “Miss Behaven” and “Georgia Peach” in the collection (hyper link these two?)
In David’s words, “In 2010, I was asked to paint a reproduction of a Gil Elvgren piece called “Suzanne” on the side of an F-84 Thunderbolt. I thought it could be fun to go ahead and tie it in as my next addition to the aviation “nose art” series following “Miss Behaven”. The piece was commissioned by a friend named Brian O’Meara, who is quite an aviation and pin-up buff. His family has had a Ford dealership here in the Denver area for over 100 years, hence the cool 1935 Ford pick up truck that is still in his family. The lovely model on the cab of the truck is actually his girlfriend Bonnie, who did a fabulous job posing with a wig on to approximate the likeness of the Suzanne image. I couldn’t resist the temptation to put Mr. O’Meara in an artist’s coverall outfit and pose him in as the painter as well. This piece was lots of fun and painting it in front of the crowds down in Florida at the Sun and Fun Fly-In airshow created a bit of a traffic jam in our little booth.”
