From Bombers to Bikes
In 2003, a gentleman from New York saw my work on the cover of the Enthusiast, and sought me out for a commission. After finding me, he sent me a small wallet-sized photo of his father in front of some barracks. The photo was not of the best quality so I asked him to elaborate. He told me his dad served in bomber recovery in England during WWII.
I proceeded to recompose the entire image by adding a Wellington bomber to clearly designate this scene from the UK and added the Canadian pilot under the wing to signify the Allied forces. Of course he is talking to one of his own in the foreground. My client was very happy to see his dad again and since we have become great friends.
